VMWare tools are distributed with a proprietary license. You will need to manually install the tools by following these steps.

After all other installation steps are complete, the following list of instructions can be used to install the VMWare tools. Cut and paste each command one at a time and follow the instructions to the end. To save time, you may prefer to SSH to your Chorus server so that you can cut and paste the following commands more easily. The SSH server is on port 22 and the root password was entered during the installation process.

  1. Login as root
  2. From the vSphere client, attach the VMware Tools. If upgrading, when prompted, select the Interactive rather than Automatic upgrade option.
  3. Inside the VM, mount the CD:

    mount /dev/cdrom /mnt

  4. Unpack the VMWare tools from the tar archive.

    tar zxf /mnt/VMwareTools*.tar.gz

  5. Start the installer.

    ./vmware-tools-distrib/vmware-install.pl

  6. The VMWare tools installation will begin. During the script, many prompts will be displayed about paths, optional components and so forth. Answer with the default choice to all of these prompts (see "New installation prompts" below).
If you are upgrading VMWare Tools rather than installing for the first time, you will first be prompted to uninstall the existing tools (see "Upgrade prompts" below).
  7. Following the previous step, reboot your IMS server as follows:

    shutdown -r now

This completes the installation of the VMWare tools.

You must restart your X session before any mouse or graphics changes take
effect.

You can now run VMware Tools by invoking the following command:
"/usr/bin/vmware-toolbox" during an X server session.

To enable advanced X features (e.g., guest resolution fit, drag and drop, and
file and text copy/paste), you will need to do one (or more) of the following:
1. Manually start /usr/bin/vmware-user
2. Log out and log back into your desktop session; and,
3. Restart your X session.
