Introduction to this page

The theme of a link is its presentation layout in a browser window.

A theme can include customized file previews, a custom logo, and additional optional design features implemented by developers and digital designers.

This page is about creating new themes for use when publishing files. You will need to be an administrator if you want to create a new theme for the whole site.

To apply an existing theme to a link, see Choose a theme for publishing.

1. If you are an administrator, click Admin at the top right-hand of Chorus and, if necessary, elevate to unlock your account. If you do not see the Admin menu, your account is not a site administrator. Go to Admin > Link Themes.

2. If you are not an administrator, you can create a personal theme. Click on your profile avatar, open your profile, and click More Actions... on the right. Click Link Themes.

3. Click + (add) to create a new theme.

A Create Theme modal will open.

5. Choose a Parent Theme. This is the already existing theme upon which the new theme is based.

6. Enter a Theme Name.

7. Enable the Use Custom Logo switch to reveal an image field for this theme’s custom logo.

8. Drag and drop an image from your computer or device into the Custom Logo field.

9.
Click Create. Allow a few seconds for the theme to be generated.

When the theme is ready, you will see ‘Git’ details, for use by developers. Git is used to check out and edit the theme in a coding environment. See D3.9 Checking out and editing a Git theme from Chorus.

10.
Click Close. This theme will now appear as an option in Publish Link modals when files from this space are published to a link.

What is the Theme Update Mode? If you look a new theme again, you'll notice this setting. This indicates if a theme will be automatically updated when its parent theme receives developer updates.
