Reference files are lightweight links to pinned original files, and are handy tools for creating collections and smart collections. If you find a file in a collection, and can also access it in its original folder location, you can use the "Show Original" button to go to that folder directly.
Reminder: reference files have the avatar of their owner in the top left corner.
Find an original from a reference file:
Step-by-step:
1. Select the reference file.
2. Click Show Original in the right-hand sidebar. You will be taken to the space or folder that owns the pinned original of this reference file.
Alternatively:
1. Select the reference file.
2. Click View in the right-hand sidebar to open the preview.
3. Notice the File Location field in the Info tab of the preview. It will show a breadcrumb navigation trail to this reference file in its collection or smart collection.
4. Click Show Original in the info tab of the preview. The original file will appear in the preview.
Notice the File Location has changed. This is the location of the pinned original file.
5. Click on the breadcrumb trail in the File Location field to open any of the spaces or folders in the trail.
